046: You Don't Expect Flowers to Bloom All Year, Do You?

Recently, I revisited my favorite spot for acupuncture, a place that always feels like a reset button for my mind and body. During my conversation with the doctor, I shared something I’d been reflecting on: after a trip to Hawaii, I experienced an incredible surge of creativity. For months, ideas flowed effortlessly.

But now, with winter settling into Pennsylvania, that creative energy feels harder to grasp. I mentioned this to her, and she smiled knowingly.

"As a creative," she said gently, "you need time to rejuvenate. You don’t expect flowers to bloom all year, do you?”

Her words were a beautiful reminder of something we often forget: creativity, energy, and even joy require seasons of rest. Just as the earth cycles through growth and dormancy, we, too, need time to slow down, recharge, and nourish ourselves.

My wish for you this season is to rest and rejuvenate.

🌸 Turn off your alarm. Sleep in late, go to bed early, or take that well-deserved nap.
🌸 Spend time with loved ones. Let their presence remind you of connection and warmth.
🌸 Do what fills your spirit. Read, listen to music, paint, bake, or dance—whatever brings you joy.
🌸 Surround yourself with beauty. Maybe even plant a garden to remind yourself that blooms are always possible, even in the darkest months.

By intentionally making space for rest, we create the conditions that allow us to flourish. Rest is not indulgent—it’s essential.

So I ask you: How will you carve out time to rejuvenate? Whether it’s 15 minutes, an hour, or an entire day, choose to give yourself the gift of rest. Because when we pause to nourish ourselves, we return stronger, more focused, and ready to bloom again.
