037: Living Your Best Life
Sep 22, 2022As I write this, I am heading home from a two-week trip that included traveling to Hawaii and Florida. I was fortunate to mix bits of vacation time while working in a school in Hawaii and presenting at the Florida Learning Forward Conference.
I reconnected with friends who I didn’t have the opportunity to see often. For some, it was our first time meeting in person though we’ve worked together online for the past two years.
While together, we laughed and shared.
We bonded and created new memories.
We collaborated and learned from one another.
The joy of seeing each other again is hard to measure and even more difficult to explain.
We smile and hug each other tightly, comforted by the physical sensation of togetherness, thrilled by the reality of being in each other’s space, and anticipating the experiences to come.
Do you know that feeling when your heart is overflowing?
When the world fades away, even for two seconds, all that matters is what is right in front of you.
How amazing would it be to capture that feeling in a bottle?
Or, even better yet, to consciously experience that feeling every day?
While sitting on the beach after the conference, I witnessed a woman taking her three young grandchildren to the ocean’s edge. I could feel the delight radiating from the children and hear their shrieks of joy as they got closer to the water.
The kids looked at each other, then focused on the sea, spread their arms wide, shut out the rest of the world, and lived their “best lives” at that moment.
When was the last time you experienced this type of overwhelming joy?
