007: Resonance Ed: Party of... Many
Dec 04, 2021Resonance Ed: Party of... Many
Let me bring you in on a secret that only my closest friends know… I am OBSESSED with self-assessment tools! I have taken the Strengths Finder 2.0 survey, the 16Personalities MBTI survey, the Enneagram survey, the 4MAT Learning Type Survey, the Principles You survey, the Emotional and Social Competency Inventory, and the VIA Character survey. I always ask those closest to me to take the surveys, and we use them as a foundation to dig in deep and talk about who we are, our dreams, our strengths… and how we can collaborate to elevate one another.
I thrive on these deep conversations and, as a Learner, I routinely reflect on my strengths and seek opportunities to partner with others who complement me, have similar core values, and seek common goals.

Until nine months ago, Resonance Educational Consulting was a party of one. While I was leaning into my strengths, I was also acutely aware of my weaknesses areas for growth. The pandemic provided me with time to deeply consider the mission and vision of Resonance Ed. I knew that I could not do this alone to progress towards the vision.
Resonance Ed is now a party of six… and will be expanding in the next six months! The bottom of this newsletter concludes with “Yours in SEL, Krista and the Resonance Ed Team.” Our SEL Implementation Audit, SEL Implementation Framework, as well as K-12 Objectives, Learning Targets, and Essential Questions (coming soon!) would not be as robust or as refined if Resonance Ed was still a “party of one.”
Let me introduce you to the ResEd Team--
- Lori - Director for Partner Success - leverages 35 years of experience as a teacher, administrator, and curriculum specialist to design personalized plans for our partners that consider organizational change while ensuring success for the varied SEL needs of each school. In her “free time,” Lori is the driving force behind the design and development of Resonations.
- Linda - Director of Research - curates and produces trustworthy SEL research that is the foundation for the Audit and informs our professional learning design and practice. As a professor at TCNJ, her topic of interest is Community Schools.
- Sheila - Director of Social Media - is the mastermind behind our social media presence and can fluidly expound upon social emotional learning while offering expertise in Positive Psychology.
- Tammy - Creator of Coaching Content - utilizes her expertise in the inquiry process and coaching to develop our methods for ensuring ongoing, job-embedded support for our partners. As the author of The Minimalist Teacher, she also provides writing and publishing support.
- Scott - owner of RefinED Character - connects SEL content and experiential education to create activities that bring “SEL to life” in a meaningful and relevant manner for staff and students.
In Daring to Lead, Dr. Brene Brown presents research by Just Associates who define three variations of power within organizations (96-7). All three resonate strongly with me and help me in building and expanding the Resonance Ed team:
- Power with “has to do with finding common ground among different interests in order to build collective strength. Power with multiplies individual talents, knowledge, and resources to make a larger impact.”
- Power to “translates to giving everyone on your team agency and acknowledging their unique potential.”
- Power within “is defined by an ability to recognize differences and respect others.”
As the year comes to a close, I would like to acknowledge the friendship, camaraderie, and dedication of the Resonance Ed team. Our commitment to expanding social emotional learning in education would not be possible without each of them.

Our upcoming newsletter, Resonations, builds upon these ideas by sharing research and strategies to leverage the strengths among your staff and students!
